A Day in the Life: Katie Hubbard

Katie Hubbard a day in the life Lux Aeterna employee

What’s your role at Lux Aeterna?

I’m the Studio and Marketing Assistant which pretty much covers anything and everything. If it’s not IT, producing, or making visual effects, then it probably falls under my role. I cover everything from writing social media posts, website content, and the company newsletter to organising staff socials, making travel arrangements, and even getting Lottie (our office dog) to pose for her headshots.

How long have you worked at Lux Aeterna?

I joined Lux Aeterna in 2022, so I’ve been here for just under a year now — how time flies!

What attracted you to the role at Lux Aeterna?

I was interested in the variety offered and the opportunity to make the role my own. Also, the idea of helping to promote groundbreaking films and TV shows was very exciting.

What are the first things you do when you start your working day?

I usually say hello to everyone, make myself a coffee, sit down to read my emails and look at the calendar to check what’s on for the day ahead.

What does your typical day look like?

This is a tough one to answer, as my days can vary quite a lot depending on what’s going on. But usually, I’ll be making sure things in the studio are running smoothly and that we have everything we need, as well as checking industry press and social media for important updates, and scouring the studio for newsletter-worthy news.

Have you learned anything new since you started working at Lux Aeterna?

I’ve learned that TV programs take longer to make than I had anticipated, small dogs can make a lot of noise, and working the day after a Christmas party probably isn’t a good idea.

Any top tips for good lunch spots or places to socialise near the office?

We have some great places nearby for food and drinks. My favourite is Left Handed Giant — they have a great selection of locally brewed beers and a really nice view across the river.

What has been your favourite Lux Aeterna social event so far?

Definitely our away day surfing at The Wave. I’d wanted to go there since it opened but hadn’t gotten around to it. It’s fair to say I’m not a natural surfer, but I had a great time and am eager to go back for a second attempt.

What do you enjoy the most about working at Lux Aeterna?

We have a great team of people that are a joy to work with, and I also enjoy the variety of projects we cover. It’s really exciting to see our work on TV having witnessed the processes that have gone on behind the scenes to make it.

What’s the best thing about the Lux Aeterna office itself?

It would have to be our office dog, Lottie. Although she can be noisy at times, it’s lovely having her with us every day and seeing what escapades she gets up to (there might’ve been some food going missing at times!).
