Richard Stay Joins Lux Aeterna as Comp Supervisor

We have an exciting new addition to the Lux Aeterna team with Richard Stay joining us as Comp Supervisor. As a highly experienced Supe with some prestigious projects in his portfolio, we’re delighted to bring Richard on board.

With over 35 years in the entertainment industry, Richard made the transition from being in front of the camera to VFX in 2001, when he joined Rhythm and Hues in Los Angeles. After moving to the UK as a matte painter for Vanguard Animation in 2004, Richard rose through the ranks in the compositing department during his 16 years with Double Negative/DNEG, also spending two years on secondment in Mumbai as DFX supervisor for the films ‘Life’, ‘Justice League’ and ‘Bohemian Rhapsody. He also played a key role in the Oscar-winning ‘Ex Machina’. One of his last projects with DNEG was supervising Jody Whittaker’s final season of Dr Who.

Richard’s next role as VFX Supervisor at Absolute Post saw him successfully deliver key projects for clients such as Netflix, Amazon and Sky. With deep experience in client liaison and working with crews, we’re looking forward to bringing Richard’s expertise to our team, and his role will involve overseeing some headline upcoming projects for BBC, Amazon, and other key clients.

Richard says: “I’m happy to bring my many years of experience, positive outlook - and best dad jokes - to Lux Aeterna, and to be joining the studio in the beautiful city of Bristol, at a busy and exciting time for the company. There are some great projects coming down the line, and I can’t wait to help deliver the high quality work that Lux Aeterna is known for.”
