RENO is an Official Selection at Encounters Film Festival

We’re excited to share that RENO is an Official Selection at the 2026 Encounters Film Festival, getting its premiere at the event this September.

In consideration for both the Grand Prix and Audience awards, RENO will be showcased at the prestigious festival, now in its 31st edition. Founded in 1995 to mark the centenary of cinema, Encounters takes place each September at Bristol’s beautiful harbourside, bringing together filmmakers, audiences, and industry insiders from across the world.

We’ll be screening RENO at the South-West Showcase on 23rd September, at the Watershed cinema, followed by a film-maker Q&A. Also on that day we’ll be presenting the inside story of how RENO came to life in ‘The Making of RENO: The Humans Behind The Machine’, taking place at Watershed’s Waterside 3 venue.

Led by Rob and VFX director Paul Silcox, the presentation will share the inside story on how this visionary, virtual production evolved, Rob’s writing collaboration with Abiola Ogunbiyi (Idris Elba’s Green Door productions, EbonyLife Media, Netflix Screen Writers Fellowship) and working closely with legendary film editor Sam Sneade (I Swear, Sexy Beast, Birth).

Rob and Paul will discuss the challenges and opportunities for shooting a sci-fi film inside a virtual production volume, the realities of working with this still-emerging technology, and what it all means for the future of independent and short filmmaking.
