Making Life on Earth: Attenborough's Greatest Adventure

A special celebration of one of the world’s best-loved broadcasters and the era-defining documentary Life on Earth.

In 1976, Sir David Attenborough embarked on a three-year odyssey to film Life on Earth, exploring the evolution of life on our planet. Fifty years later and coinciding with David Attenborough’s 100th birthday, Making Life on Earth: Attenborough’s Greatest Adventure, celebrates this groundbreaking series and David’s extraordinary journey from BBC controller to the world’s most respected natural history broadcaster.

We created the documentary’s titles, GFX and maps, using original transparencies, handwritten notes, and real archival documents (over 500 in total) to create a visual identity that reflects the 1970s aesthetic of the original series and pays homage to the iconic Life on Earth title sequence.
